This special civic ceremony marks a monumental dual milestone: celebrating the 250th semi-quincentennial anniversary of the United States of America alongside the 150th sesquicentennial anniversary of the State of Colorado. \nDuring this patriotic morning assembly\, the Delta County Commissioners will take the stage to perform a ceremonial reading of an official commemorative proclamation. In addition to the proclamation\, the ceremony will feature a powerful live reading of Abraham Lincoln’s timeless Gettysburg Address\, honoring the enduring spirit of American liberty\, unity\, and heritage. \nThis outdoor civic gathering is an incredible opportunity to reflect on our shared history\, celebrate our community’s place in the Colorado story\, and kick off the July festivities with pride. The event is completely free and openly welcomes everyone. Illegal dumping impacts local wildlife and recreation; this annual event is a vital effort to restore and preserve the natural beauty of the badlands for future generations. Whether you are part of an off-road club\, a school group\, or a solo volunteer\, every hand makes a difference in keeping Delta County beautiful. \nVolunteers will work alongside community partners like Delta Compost\, BLM\, and the Delta County Commissioners to remove waste and tires. Last year\, volunteers removed 40 cubic yards of waste and 37 tires in just four hours—let’s top that impact in 2026! \nEvent Details\n\n\nDate: Saturday\, May 30\, 2026 \n\n\nTime: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM \n\n\nLocation: Meet at the intersection of Trap Club Road & Fairview Road\, Eckert\, CO \n\n\nRequirements: Ages 16+. Please bring a hat\, sunscreen\, sturdy shoes\, and a water bottle. \n\n\nProvided: Gloves\, trash bags\, water\, and snacks will be provided for all participants. \n\n\nRegistration: Sign up in advance here.
